Eoin Morgan century leads England to series win over Pakistan

In a summer which has done absolutely no favours for international cricket, England finally emerged victorious in the series with Pakistan.

Eoin Morgan was the star of the show as his century helped England post a total of 256.

Pakistan weren’t able to get near to it as Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann ripped through the batting line-up, bowling Pakistan out for 135.

Andrew Strauss was named man of the series after a couple of impressive batting displays that took his boundary total to 403 fours, becoming only the fourth English player, alongside Graham Gooch, Marcus Trescothick and Alec Stewart, to achieve the feat.

Strauss is 7/2 to be England’s top batsman in the Ashes 2010/11 series and will be hoping to lead by example as England pursues their first win in Australia since the 1986/87 tour.

Australia are huge favourites to win the Ashes, but England’s series win has seen the price for them to win drift from 8/13 to 4/6.

England remain at 9/4 to win down under but can take positives from the summer’s action with Eoin Morgan and Ian Bell impressing, and Graeme Swann continuing to show that form that has seen him become one of the world’s best players.

Swann is 6/4 to be England’s top wicket taker in Australia and having taken 22 wickets in the Test series and 11 in the ODI’s, you wouldn’t want to bet against him.

However England have dropped a point in the International Cricket Council’s world standings which leaves them still in fifth position but on the same points as New Zealand.

That hasn’t affected the 2011 ODI World Cup betting odds with England joint 4/1 favourites with Australian and hosts India.

The 2011 World Cup starts in February with the last Ashes test in January. See the full the 2011 ODI World Cup betting odds market here.
