Drogba hoping to continue love affair with playing Arsenal

Didier Drogba has revealed that he intends to find the net against Arsenal again this season as Chelsea look to get their Premier League challenge back on track.

Drogba has scored 12 goals in his last ten games against Arsenal, including doubles in both victories over the Gunners during the last campaign.

However, Chelsea lost their 100 per cent winning start when suffering a 1-0 reverse to Manchester City in their last game and Drogba understands the importance of immediately bouncing back to winning ways.

He told Sky Sports News: “I love playing big games and I love playing against Arsenal. I always say that Arsenal is one of my favourite teams.

“I don’t think we can afford to lose a second game, especially against Arsenal. People have to know, and we know, that we’re going to lose some games this season. But it’s always better to win.”

Drogba has already scored five goals in six league starts this season and heads into the home game with Arsenal fresh, having sat out of their Champions League victory over Marseille because of suspension.

Chelsea remain the heavy favourites to win the Premier League at 4/5 despite their minor setback at Manchester City, which has seen their lead at the top of the table cut to three points.

Meanwhile, they are 8/11 to beat Arsenal, with a repeat of last season’s 2-0 triumph at Stamford Bridge priced at 6/1.

The slender hope that Arsenal fans can hold onto is the fact that Drogba only tends to score in every other game between the two at Stamford Bridge, which means he may not strike this year because of his double last season.

Drogba is currently the 2/1 favourite to end the season with the most goals in the Premier League. See the full Premier League top scorer betting odds market.
