Crystal Palace keeper in line for move to Premier League club

Julian Speroni looks set for a move to the Premier League in January after George Burley admitted he’d rather sell him than lose him for nothing at the end of the season.

31-year-old Speroni is stalling on a new contract as he looks to secure a move to Fulham and Crystal Palace want to cash in on the goalkeeper before it’s too late.

Arsenal have re-ignited their interest in Fulham’s current goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer and Fulham boss Mark Hughes is looking for a cut-price deal in his chase for the highly-rated Argentine shot-stopper.

Fulham made a £1.7m deadline day approach for Speroni but the deal fell through when Schwarzer didn’t secure his move to Arsenal, and now Palace may have to sell their Argentine keeper for just £750,000.

Speroni moved to Palace from Dundee in 2004 and since then has made 168 appearances for the South London club, keeping 44 clean sheets and has won Palace’s player of the year award for the past three seasons.

The loss of Speroni would be a huge blow to Crystal Palace but Burley will have been impressed by his side’s character as they secured their first league win on Tuesday.

James Vaughan, on loan from Everton, made a dream start to his three month move with a hat-trick and Burley will hope Vaughan can continue his goal scoring form when Burnley visit Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Palace’s win lifts them to 19th in the Championship and three points against Burnley, they are 13/8 to win, could potentially lift them into the top half of the Championship.
