Coyle to get fingers Burn-ed on Turf Moor return?

Ladbrokes is offering odds of 4/5 that one Premier League club slips up to lower-league opposition in the Carling Cup tonight.

It’s 7/4 that seven top flight clubs go through, 4/1 that two sides are knocked out by lower league sides, and a 100/1 shot that Birmingham, Everton, Bolton and Wolves are all knocked out by Football League sides.

Bolton seem to be in the most precarious position, with Burnley 13/8 to eliminate former manager Owen Coyle’s side at Turf Moor. The Clarets are also the best-priced Football League side to win the trophy, at 66/1.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said, “Premier League sides will use the League Cup to field some fringe players, so we’re expecting at least one upset.”

Number of Premier League sides to qualify from Tuesday night’s Carling Cup matches:
Three 100/1
Four 14/1
Five 4/1
Six 4/5
Seven 7/4

Birmingham 2/5, MK Dons 13/2, Draw 2/5
Brentford 11/2, Everton 8/15, Draw 11/4
Burnley 13/8, Bolton 13/8, Draw 23/10
