Cluj looking for win repeat to place more pressure on Roma

CFR Cluj are looking to repeat their surprise victory over Roma two years ago in the Champions League when they head to Italy again looking to continue their bright start in Group E.

The Romanians caused a major shock when leaving the Stadio Olimpico with a 2-1 victory on their Champions League debut in 2008 and are 8/1 to beat Roma again.

Cluj can also take confidence from their victory in their first Group E outing this season when they beat Basle 2-1.

However, their previous win in Italy remains their only away victory in UEFA competition and Roma showed signs of getting their season back on track when beating Inter Milan in their latest Serie A game.

They are 4/11 to beat Cluj in the Champions League betting odds and bounce back from their defeat in their opening group encounter at Bayern Munich.

Bayern face Basle in the other group game and will be hoping for a similar result to the 3-1 win witnessed when the pair met in Switzerland in a friendly in January this year.

Basle tend to be strong at home in Europe as they won five of their six games at St Jakob Park in last season’s Europa League.

Manager Thorsten Fink will also be keen to put one over on the club he used to play for and Basel are 3/1 to beat Bayern.

Bayern are 10/11 to leave Switzerland with the three points, with Basel having lost three of their four previous home games against German opposition.

Bayern are the 1/3 favourites to finish at the head of Group E after their victory over Roma. See the full Group E Champions League betting odds market.
