Carlisle stake promotion claim with Wednesday scalp

Carlisle leapfrogged Sheffield Wednesday into second place in League One after claiming an unexpected 1-0 win at Hillsborough.

Craig Curran’s first goal for the Cumbrians proved to be the winner, and the visitors were more than good value for their victory, as they gave Wednesday keeper Nicky Weaver a busy afternoon.

Carlisle are priced at 22/1 to win the League One title this season, and they have proved to be a thorn in the side for a number of the division’s big hitters, as was evident when they battered MK Dons 4-1 last month.

Sheffield Wednesday, meanwhile, dropped to sixth place following their lethargic display.

Alan Irvine’s side are still the favourites (at 7/2), however, to gain promotion as League One champions this term.

Who do you think will win the title? Huddersfield are the joint favourites at 7/2. See the full League One Betting Odds market.
