Bristol City snap up Spurs’ Rose on loan for the season

Bristol City have taken advantage of the emergency loan window by bringing in England under-21 star Danny Rose on loan from Tottenham for the duration of the season.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has decided that the 20-year-old would benefit from the first-team experience he would gain in the Championship and has added a recall clause into the loan contract.

Bristol City manager Keith Millen told BBC Bristol that the acquisition of Rose could be especially important as he looks for more options in midfield.

He said: “He’s one we feel would enhance the squad in terms of the position he plays and we’ve been looking for a left-sider for a while now.”

Rose endeared himself to the Spurs faithful on his Premier League debut with a wonder goal against north London rivals Arsenal last season, but City fans will have to wait to for such a spectacular entrance.

An ankle injury has ruled Rose out of Bristol City’s trip to Scunthorpe, where they are 9/5 to collect their first league victory of the season.

However, he is expected to be fit for their next game against Watford on Tuesday.

Rose will bring Championship experience to Bristol City having spent previous loan spells at Watford and Peterborough.

Despite their winless start from their opening four games, which has seen them occupy one of the relegation places, Bristol City will still fancy their chances of sealing promotion to the Premier League and are 50/1 to win the Championship the season.

Scunthorpe are 6/4 to heap more misery on Bristol City by claiming the three points, while the draw is 9/4. See the complete Scunthorpe vs Bristol City match betting market.
