Breno close to making comeback from injury at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich will soon be able to welcome back Breno into contention for a first-team place as the defender continues his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament tear.

The Brazilian arrived at Munich from Sao Paulo with a big reputation in 2007 and was highlighted in some quarters to be the long-term replacement for the now departed Lucio.

He was sent on loan to Nuremberg to continue his development last season, before the injury ended his campaign prematurely.

However, he is now back with Bayern, who are 1/2 to win the Bundesliga, and on the brink of a return to training, ahead of challenging Martin Demichelis and Daniel van Buyten for a starting spot at the heart of the defence.

He told Bild: “I lost four kilos, the rehabilitation is going perfectly, and I am ready to finally show what I can do.”

Young German Holger Badstuber is another candidate looking for a central defensive spot, despite having been regularly employed at left-back during their run to the Champions League final last season.

Bayern’s Bundesliga defence this season has started inconsistently with a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg at home followed by a 2-0 reverse at Kaiserslautern.

Another big game awaits them next as they host Werder Bremen, with Bayern 8/13 to continue their winning start at home.

The two also met early in the season at the Allianz Arena during the last campaign and on that occasion the honours ended even in a 1-1 draw.

However, Bayern did get the better of Bremen in the German Cup final at the end of last season when romping to a 4-0 success. See the whole Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen match betting market.
