Big month upcoming for Chelsea as they face fellow title contenders

Chelsea may have now won their opening six games of the season in emphatic fashion, but the next month will give a much clearer indication as to how certain they are to win the Premier League title in May.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men are now 8/11 to win the Premier League as they made it 21 goals scored and just one conceded in six games by brushing aside Blackpool 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.

It was another surge out of the starting blocks that did the damage as Salomon Kalou, a Florent Malouda double and a deflected Didier Drogba strike had the game won in the first half.

However, Chelsea have been fortunate to face many of the pre-season relegation candidates at the start of the campaign and some of their likely challengers at the head of the table lie in wait in the coming weeks.

Next comes an away trip to big-spending Manchester City, a team who did the double over them last season and who will be itching to make a statement to show that they should be considered serious title challengers.

They return to Stamford Bridge the following week to host Arsenal, who are currently second in the table and have shown glimpses that this could be the year when all of their young stars have the necessary experience to become champions.

In Chelsea’s favour they have scored nine times against the Gunners in the last three games, with Didier Drogba netting four times against them last season.

Drogba has already scored five this season and is the favourite at 2/1 to end the campaign as the Premier League’s top scorer.

After this Chelsea travel to Aston Villa, which is an away fixture they have won only once in the last ten seasons.

Florent Malouda has already scored six league goals this season and is 7/1 to be the Premier League top-scorer. See the whole Premier League top scorer market.
