Bet on Burnley vs Bolton – Coyle ready for hostile reception

Published:

It’s almost ten months ago since Owen Coyle walked out on Burnley to take charge at Bolton and many Burnley fans hold Coyle responsible for their relegation to the Championship.

It’s safe to assume Coyle won’t be welcomed back with open arms and the Burnley squad will be keen to show their old boss up which explains why they can’t be separated in the Carling Cup betting, both sides are 13/8 for the win.

Burnley boss Brian Laws is likely to name the same side that drew with Crystal Palace on Saturday but Coyle will give opportunities to Bolton’s fringe players.

Carling Cup Qualifying Market

Bolton have only managed two clean sheets in their last 11 Carling Cup away ties which suggests they will need to score twice or face the prospect of extra time – Bolton are 8/11 to qualify whilst Burnley are 1/1.

Brentford vs Everton

Everton make the trip to London yet to really find their feet in the Premier League this season and League One outfit Brentford are ready to cause an upset.

Five of the last six of the ties between the two have ended in the home side winning but with David Moyes likely to field a strong side, the League One side are likely to find the Premier League side too strong.

Carling Cup Match Odds

Everton are 8/15 to defeat their lowel league opponents whilst Brentford are available at 11/2.

Brentford have not kept a clean sheet in the Carling Cup since August 2001 and Everton’s strikers, particularly Jermaine Beckford, will want to add to their season’s goal tally.

Beckford is 4/1 to score first and is proven at League One level, scoring Leeds United’s only goal against Brentford last season.

Tim Cahill is available at 7/2 to score first. See the full Carling Cup football betting market here.
