Tranmere rocked as captain Thomas-Moore requests transfer

Tranmere Rovers have been left reeling after their captain Ian Thomas-Moore handed in a transfer request to the club.

The former Leeds and Burnely forward has been offered a lucrative contract from an unnamed club, and Rovers manager Les Parry seems resigned to losing Thomas-Moore, who is 33/1 to be League One’s top scorer this season.

“He tells us he’s been made an offer from another club,” Parry said. “And I don’t know who that club is, with an increase in his salary plus a two-year contract.”

Tranmere are unwilling to offer the 33-year-old a two-year deal, and as a consequence, Thomas-Moore has officially submitted a transfer request.

One of the clubs reportedly interested in signing Thomas-Moore is Rotherham, who are currently managed by the striker’s father and former Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore.

Rotherham are fancied at 9/1 to win the League Two title this season, and Thomas-Moore could be swayed to join the promotion-chasing Millers, having endured draining relegation battles at Tranmere.

Furthermore, Thomas-Moore would form an exciting strike partnership at the Don Valley Stadium with Adam Le Fondre, who is the 6/1 favourite to be top scorer in League Two.

Elsewhere in League One, 25/1 title contenders MK Dons have signed former West Brom defender Pele following the 32-year-old’s release from Scottish side Falkirk.

Pele, who has also played for Southampton, impressed Dons manager Karl Robinson during a trial spell with the club, and has joined on a non-contract basis.
