Recovering Mclean hopes to propel Peterborough to promotion


Peterborough striker Aaron Mclean believes that he can recover from his shin injury and fire his side to League One promotion.

Mclean sustained the injury during the Posh’s 4-1 Carling Cup win against Rotherham, where he was stretchered off the field after colliding with Danny Harrison.

The Posh are priced at 10/1 to win the League One title, and Mclean is hopeful that he can shake off his injury worries to inspire their charge to the top.

“When I first did the injury I thought I’d broken something as I could hear grinding whenever I moved my foot,” Mclean said.

“I think it will take a couple of weeks to completely heal, but it’s hard to gauge at the moment as I’ve picked up another knock.”

Mclean already has two goals this season, and the striker is 12/1 to finish the campaign as the leading scorer in League One.

Despite his injury, Mclean was able to play against Bournemouth last Saturday, though he may wish that he had not bothered, as Peterborough were thrashed 5-1.

“We’ve had a chat, watched the game and gone through the things we feel we did wrong, but we need to learn from it,” Mclean said.

“If you can learn quickly then it will stand you in good stead for the future.”

Peterborough will look to get their season back on track when they take on fellow promotion chasers Huddersfield at London Road on Saturday.

Home advantage means that the Posh begin the match as marginal 6/4 to favourites to win, and Mclean should be available to lead the attack again.
