Parrett heads to Plymouth on loan from Tottenham
Plymouth are hoping to build on their perfect start to life in League One after completing a deal to sign England under-19 international Dean Parrett on loan from Tottenham.
Peter Reid’s spell as manager got off to the ideal start when collecting a 1-0 win at League One title favourites Southampton on the opening day, although they have since been eliminated from the League Cup by Notts County.
Up next in the league is a home game against Carlisle and Parrett is in contention to start after joining on a one-month deal from White Hart Lane.
He brings with him European experience having played for Tottenham in both legs of their Europa League encounter with Shakhtar Donetsk at the last 32 stage last February.
Meanwhile, he will be accustomed to the demands of lower league football having played four games at Aldershot last season.
Parrett should also have no problem settling at to his new club as he can call on Tottenham teammate David Button for support.
The goalkeeper is on loan at Home Park for the entire season and was among the starters in the Southampton win.
Parrett’s style has been compared to that of Steven Gerrard and despite not managing to find the scoresheet during his spell at Aldershot, he will be hopeful of hitting the target at Plymouth to improve his chances of being in contention for a first-team spot at Tottenham.
Plymouth are 10/11 to pick up the win over Carlisle, with Luke Summerfield, who grabbed the only goal in the Southampton game, 12/1 to be first goalscorer against Gregg Abbott’s charge.
The Pilgrims are 14/1 to secure an immediate return to the Championship by winning League One, but they face a tough task against Carlisle, who were also victorious on the opening weekend of the season thanks to a 2-0 win over Brentford.
Plymouth are 6-1 to make it back-to-back 1-0 league victories. See the whole correct score betting market.
