Majstorovic committed to helping Celtic reclaim SPL title

Daniel Majstorovic has set his sights on winning the Scottish Premier League crown after completing his move to Celtic from AEK Athens.

The 33-year-old Swedish defender has become the eighth new face to arrive at Parkhead this summer as manager Neil Lennon looks to assemble a squad that can reclaim the SPL title from Rangers.

They are 4/6 to win the top Scottish division for the 43rd time and got off to an ideal start when Paddy McCourt’s goal was enough to give them a 1-0 victory over Inverness in their opening game of the season.

Majstorovic said: “To take back the title for Celtic is very important. I’m a winner and I want to be part of this club. They will see a player who always gives 100 per cent on the field.

“When you have an opportunity to be part of this massive club with fans all over the world and with a great reputation in Europe, then I’m very happy.”

After signing a two-year deal, Majstorovic has also been named in the Celtic squad for the first leg of their Europa League play-off at home to FC Utrecht, which they are 4/6 to win.

Meanwhile, another defensive signing could arrive ahead of their next league fixture against St Mirren, as Honduras left-back Emilio Izaguirre is close to agreeing terms.

It is believed that Izaguirre has undergone a medical ahead of completing an £850,000 switch from Motagua, with MLS side Toronto also interested in his signature.

Celtic are 1/6 to make it back-to-back league wins with victory over St Mirren and a repeat of last season’s 3-1 success is 10/1.

It is 6/1 to Celtic will win 1-0, see the entire correct score market.
