Liverpool vs Rabotnicki – returning big guns could ravage minnows

Liverpool are set to give their star players a run-out in the second leg of their Europa League third round qualifier against Rabotnicki.

The Reds hold a 2-0 aggregate lead from the first fixture, and manager Roy Hodgson could recall Steven Gerrard and summer signing Joe Cole to seal Liverpool’s passage to the next round.

As massive 1/20 favourites to win the match, Liverpool should progress with ease, and the best value may be in the correct score market.

A repeat 2-0 victory for Hodgson’s men is priced at 11/2, but with the introduction of Gerrard and Cole, the winning margin could be bigger.

Liverpool are 13/2 to win 4-0, and if their leading players are anywhere near their best, goals should flow.

David Ngog was the hero of the first leg as he scored a brace, and the young French forward is priced at 11/4 to open the scoring at Anfield.

Off the pitch, meanwhile, the bidding war to buy Liverpool has taken an interesting twist, with the Chinese Government reportedly preparing a takeover bid for the club.

Chinese businessman Kenny Huang is among the favourites to seize control at Anfield, and his company, QSL Sports Ltd, is backed by a state-owned investment fund.

Huang’s offer for the club, however, is understood to be one of six bids, as Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton has confirmed the club are considering “several” offers.

Hodgson will hope that a significant investment will supply him with the required funds to build a team capable of competing for all trophies.

Liverpool are 9/1 to win the Europa League, but first of all they need to dismiss the challenge of Rabotnicki, and the return of the Reds’ stars should make this task a formality.
