Graham Turner continues to enjoy his Shrewsbury return

“Never go back” may have been advice that Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore wished he had taken when his side lost last season’s play-off final, but returning Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner will have no such regrets so far.

The veteran coach went back to the club he started his managerial career with in 1978 two months ago and the optimism built during an encouraging summer of squad building has been justified by a brilliant start.

They conquered promotion-tipped Bradford 3-1 on the opening day, came from 3-0 down to beat League One Charlton in the Carling Cup and this weekend won 1-0 at Macclesfield.

Torquay are the only other League Two club to have taken six points from their opening two matches, so it’s no surprise that both sides are right up there in the title betting at 10/1 to claim top spot.
