Fulham vs Man United – visitors hope to dispel Cottage curse

Published:

Having struggled at Fulham in recent years, Manchester United may not quite be relishing their trip to Craven Cottage.

Alex Ferguson’s side are 8/13 favourites to win, but Fulham will take heart from the fact that they have something of an upper hand against their opponents.

Fulham have a relatively strong record against United, having won both their last two home matches against them. Another Fulham win on Sunday is priced at 9/2.

Last season, Fulham beat United 3-0 at Craven Cottage, while Ferguson’s side claimed a victory of the same scoreline at Old Trafford.

Bobby Zamora was among the Cottagers’ goalscorers when they beat United 3-0 last term, and the recently capped England international is 5/2 to score at any time.

When the sides met at Old Trafford, however, it was a one man show, with Wayne Rooney grabbing the first two goals. He is 3/1 to strike first again.

Dimitar Berbatov impressed in United’s opening 3-0 win against Newcastle, and the Bulgarian is 9/2 to open the scoring at Craven Cottage.

The last seven Premier League matches between these sides have produced no draws, with the losing side failing to score on every occasion.

A draw is priced at 11/4, though this sequence suggests that a stalemate is unlikely in west London.

Paul Scholes’ red card proved to be the turning point in last season’s Craven Cottage clash, but if United can last 90 minutes with 11 players, they will be a handful.

With their impressive recent wins over Chelsea and Newcastle in mind – as well as the trend for the loser in these ties to remain goalless – a United victory to nil seems worth backing. You can bet on them to win 1-0 or 2-0 at a tempting 6/1.

United looked in ominously good form in their 3-0 win against Newcastle. They are 10/1 to win by the same margin against Fulham. See the full Fulham vs Manchester United Match Betting Odds market.
