Djokovic and Nalbandian braced for explosive clash in Cincinnati

Published:

Novak Djokovic takes on David Nalbandian in the pick of the third round ties at the Western and Southern Cincinnati Masters today.

World number three Djokovic is the favourite to win at 8/13, and the Serb has the overall head-to-head advantage having won three of their previous four meetings.

Priced at 6/5 to beat Djokovic, Nalbandian enters the match having won the Legg Mason Classic and reached the quarter-finals of the Rogers Cup earlier this month.

The powerful Argentinian will also be fresh, having progressed to this stage after his second round opponent John Isner retired in the first set.

Both players are renowned for their explosive groundstrokes, and this tie could see sparks fly. It promises to be tight, and a three-set win for Djokovic looks worth backing at 11/4.

Andy Murray vs Ernests Gulbis
Andy Murray had to overcome a second set scare to beat Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-3 6-7 6-2 in order to reach the third round, where he faces Ernests Gulbis.

Murray has won all four of his previous encounters with Gulbis, three of which have been in straight sets. Another victory of this margin for Murray is convincingly priced at 8/15.

Robin Soderling vs Andy Roddick
World number five Robin Soderling is the 8/13 favourite to win his third round clash with Andy Roddick, though the American has reasons to be confident.

Although Soderling has won two of the three matches between the two players, Roddick was victorious when they last met at Indian Wells earlier this year.

Roddick is 6/5 to beat his Swedish counterpart. Can the American do it? See the full Soderling vs Roddick Match Betting Odds market.
