Charlton vs Oldham – Winning records on the line at the Valley

Published:

Only three teams in League One can boast about still having a 100 per cent record, but this figure is certain to be reduced as Charlton entertain Oldham in an early season top-of-the-table clash.

With home advantage, Charlton are the 8/11 favourites to maintain their winning start and they would be happy to repeat the 1-0 success they collected at the Valley on the opening day of the season against Bournemouth.

That result is 6/1, while it is 10/1 for a second consecutive goalless draw between the two at Charlton’s home.

Oldham failed to score against Phil Parkinson’s team in either league game last season and perhaps their best hope of ending that run lies with Dale Stephens, who has scored twice from midfield already and is 14/1 to be the first goalscorer.

Huddersfield are the only team in the division to still not have conceded a goal, which is a good habit to maintain if they wish to overcome odds of 4/1 and win League One.

They are 7/4 to triumph in their away game at Peterborough, who will be looking to bounce back quickly from a 5-1 thrashing at Bournemouth in their last game.

However, they have scored eight goals in their three competitive games so far this season, with Aaron Mclean the 11/2 favourite to open the scoring.

At Carlisle the fans will be hoping for a similar result to last season when the MK Dons come to Cumbria as Greg Abbott’s team romped to a 5-0 success in February.

They are 11/8 to claim the three points again and retain their early position in the play-off places.

Meanwhile, the MK Dons are the other team to have a 100 per cent record, albeit from just one game, and are 15/8 to build on their opening day victory away at Walsall.

Southampton are favourites to be crowned League One champions at 3/1. See the whole league winner’s market.
