Paul Buckle has vowed to retain all of his Torquay squad after his team’s flawless start to the season has resulted in interest from bigger clubs for his star players.

Torquay are one of three clubs that are 7/1 to win League Two this season and they are the only team to still have a 100 per cent winning record after the opening three games.

Their latest victory was a 2-0 triumph at home to Bradford, with Danny Stevens and Chris Zebrowski finding the target.

Elliot Benyon has taken most of the plaudits after scoring three goals in as many games in the bright start, but Buckle has told the official Torquay club website that is he is not the only one that has been at the top of their game.

Buckle said: “My phone has been ringing but I’m not interested in selling anyone. Elliot Benyon is the obvious one because he is playing up front and getting goals, but we have a number of young players performing well.

“Mark Ellis was immense against Bradford and we also have Eunan O’Kane, Billy Kee and Danny Stevens who are all good young players.”

Meanwhile, Torquay have already rejected an offer from an unnamed League One club for Ellis.

The 21-year-old has impressed as part of the Torquay defence which is yet to concede a goal in the league this season.

The one small blip in their season came in the Carling Cup first round when they were cruelly eliminated by Championship outfit Reading, when Grzegorz Rasiak scored the game’s only goal in the dying seconds of extra time.

Rotherham and Wycombe are also 7/1 to win League Two, view the whole market.
