Barnet set for another struggle after shipping seven at Crewe

Published:

Arsenal and Chelsea may have hit six but the weekend’s surprise star scorers were Crewe, who responded to defeats in their first two matches of the League Two season by ripping Barnet apart 7-0.

Dario Gradi’s men, whose only other two home league wins over the last six months were also heavy on goals – 4-2 v Grimsby and 5-1 v Accrington – aren’t expected to challenge for top spot despite the dominant triumph though – they’re huge 33/1 outsiders.

Instead, the result illustrates how little Barnet have improved over the summer despite the appointment of former Gillingham boss Mark Stimson.

The Bees were in relegation trouble until the final day last season and look set to fight for survival again. They’re bottom of the league already and the early indication is that Stimson’s dreadful away record as a Football League boss wasn’t Gills exclusive.

So Barnet are unlikely to have many takers even at 150/1 to take the title, but who are you backing? See the full Npower League Two 2010/11 Betting Odds market.
