Edoardo Molinari closes in on Scottish Open victory

Published:

At -13 Edoardo Molinari leads the Scottish Open by four shots ahead of Darren Clarke after the Ulsterman dropped five shots in his final round.

With six holes to play for the final group, the Italian a strong 1/16 favourite to win the title and the Northern Irishman a 10/1 chance.

In what is turning out to be a difficult last day for the field on the Loch Lomond course, it’s a question of who can drop the least shots, with Molinari senior currently on course for a +2 round.

Clarke has the upperhand in back nines so far in the tournament, letting slip only two shots to olinari’s four, so a bet on the Ryder Cup legend may be a worthy speculation.

Francesco Molinari is on -8 after 12 holes, five shots back, but is still available to come out on top at 33/1.

With this final European Tour event before the Open starts next week drawing to a close, attention is already switching to St Andrews.

Edoardo Molinari is 80/1 to win the Claret Jug, with his younger brother Francesco the same price.

Phil Mickelson missed the cut here on Friday, but is still a 16/1 shot to win the Open.

US Open champ Graeme McDowell is currently in tied 21st place on +1, and is an attractive 25/1 chance to win a second major in a row.

The Open starts on Thursday and Tiger Woods is the big favourite. He’s won at St Andrews before and is 4/1 to do it again. See the full Open Championship betting.
