Championship Betting

The Championship may only be the second tier of English football – but the betting opportunities are first class.

In recent seasons there have been some fantastic teams playing brilliant football, with the like of Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers swaggering into the Premier League.

The excellent football being played shows no sign of abating in the coming seasons either, with the likes of Leeds United, Leicester City and West Ham United all showing that it’s possible to play quality football in the lower divisions of English football.

While backing a team to win the title is one of the most popular ways of taking advantage of the Championship betting odds at Ladbrokes, there are loads of other great markets around as well.

Because of the play-offs, many teams in the Championship will be fighting right into May to make the top six and give themselves a chance to go to Wembley and, ultimately, play Premier League football.

In 2010, Blackpool scraped into the play-offs by finishing sixth despite being off the pace for much of the season.

They went on to beat Cardiff City in the play-off final and complete a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for the North West side that, just nine years previously, was playing in the fourth tier.

Because teams can make a late surge and make the play-offs, the promotion markets remain extremely tempting right up until the end of the season.

With relegation markets also available for the teams at the wrong end of the table, there is no shortage of Championship betting opportunities to take advantage of.
