Blackburn take on Preston in pick of the pre-season friendlies

On a busy day of pre-season friendly fixtures, the pick of the matches is a Lancashire derby between Preston and Blackburn at Deepdale.

Darren Ferguson’s Preston side will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing Championship campaign which saw them finish 17th last season, and they are 13/5 to claim a surprise win.

Their opponents Blackburn, meanwhile, are 5/6 favourites to win the match.

Another clash of Lancastrian titans sees Premier League newcomers Blackpool host Accrington Stanley.

The Seasiders are a convincing 4/7 to put Stanley to the sword, while a shock victory for the League Two side is available at 4/1.

There is also a Lancashire head-to-head at Boundary Park, where Oldham are 4/1 to cause a stir by beating Premier League side Wigan.

West Brom continue preparations for their return to the top flight with a trip to League two side Crewe Alexandra.

The visitors are much fancied at 4/7 to win the tie, though the hosts are a threat at 7/2, and with the towering Calvin Zola leading their attack, Crewe could prove to be a handful.

Crewe’s League Two rivals Bury, meanwhile, are 10/3 outsiders to claim victory when they entertain Championship newboys Leeds (4/6 to win) at Gigg Lane.

There are plenty of potential shocks on the cards in today’s pre-season friendlies. Rotherham are 10/3 to beat Leicester, who lie two divisions above the Millers. See the full Rotherham vs Leicester market.
