Slovenia vs England – teams announced
Published:Fabio Capello starts Jermain Defoe up front with Wayne Rooney and sticks to his preferred 4-4-2 formation for England’s match against Slovenia, which kicks off at 3pm.
James Milner also comes in for Aaron Lennon as Capello strives for more consistent crossing. Milner is a decent goal threat too and is a 12/1 shot to net first.
Matthew Upson makes his first World Cup appearance as expected, alongside John Terry. Slovenia have scored in both their Group B games so far but England will be desperate for a shut-out today.
Realistically, England need a two-goal win to have hopes of a top-spot finish realised. England to win with Slovenia +1 is an 8/5 shot.
Left-footed Valter Birsa once again starts on the right for Matjaz Kek’s side. His sweet strike opened the scoring against the USA and is an 18/1 chance to do it again here.
Zlatan Ljubijankic, who also netted against the USA, starts up front and is 12/1 to score first against England.
Former West Brom playmaker Robert Koren scored the only goal against Algeria in the Slovenians’ opening match – he’s a 20/1 shot to grab the first here.
