Slovakia vs Italy – teams announced

Published:

World Cup holders Italy have dropped Alberto Gilardino in their must-win game with Slovakia, which kicks off at 3pm.

Antoni Di Natale comes in up front and is 11/2 to score the first goal.

The only other change for Italy is the return of veteran Gennaro Gattuso in place of Claudio Marchisio in midfield. That means that key playmaker Andrea Pirlo has not recovered enough from his injury and has to settle for the bench.

Slovakia make four changes to their team with Radoslav Zabavnik, Juraj Kucka, Miroslav Stoch all coming in to replace Kornel Salata, Stanislav Sestak and coach’s son Vladimir Weiss, while Erik Jendrisek replaces Jan Kozak up front.

Italy are 8/15 to get three points from their must-win match. Marcello Lippi’s side are 5/6 to keep a clean sheet, while a 1-0 win for Italy is 9/2.

Slovakia are 11/2 to win and the draw is an 11/4 chance.
