Daily Specials offer great opportunity to prosper

With World Cup action coming thick and fast, it could prove worthwhile placing a bet on a whole day’s events to ensure you have an interest from start to finish.

Bettors have the opportunity to use Ladbrokes’ Daily Specials market and here are some choice picks for today’s matches.

Total goals scored
The World Cup has so far failed to properly ignite and there doesn’t seem to be much reason for that to change today.

No day has so far produced more than six goals and despite the presence of Brazil in the fixtures it would appear wise to go for under 7.5 goals at 57/50.

It is expected that Brazil will thump North Korea but it is worth noting the Asian side hadn’t conceded more than three in a match for 14 games before Nigeria put three past them last time out.

Indeed even if the evening tie does offer four goals, it still strikes as probable that New Zealand v Slovakia and Ivory Coast v Portugal will follow a trend set by most of the matches that have already played: teams going for tight at the back and reserved up front.

The two Group F minnows have never set the world alight with their goal-getting, while Portugal have struggled to score in competitive games and Ivory Coast will probably be without their talisman Didier Drogba.

Top man trebles
Ladbrokes have some tailored options here and a good selection would be Marek Hamsik, Salomon Kalou and Kaka to all score at any time. It’s a 33/1 price and has potential for reward.

Much of their teams’ play will go through these three men and to see all of them getting on the score sheet would not be a great surprise.

Hamsik has eight international goals to his name, Kalou 11 and Kaka 27.

To score first goal trebles
To really make things interesting why not bet on which countries will score first? A good should would be Ivory Coast and Brazil both to get the breakthrough goal and for there to be no goal in the New Zealand v Slovakia game. It’s priced at 22/1.
