Champions League Betting Odds

The Champions League is undoubtedly the biggest club competition in the world and in recent seasons it has been dominated by two teams – Manchester United and Barcelona.

Despite being two of the biggest clubs in the world, United and Barca had underachieved in Europe, with both clubs winning just two titles each before the start of 2008.

The clubs met at the semi final stage in the 2008 tournament and, after United defeated the Spanish side, they went on to beat Chelsea in the final and claim their third title.

That marked the start of an impressively dominant couple of years for the sides and they met once again the following year – but this time in the final.

Barcelona had the upper hand in that clash in Rome as Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi tore United apart to win the 2009 final 2-0.

The 2010 final was contested by Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, but Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola were once again locking horns in the 2011 final where the Manchester side were once again outclassed and lost 3-1.

With these two sides showing no sign of slowing down in Europe, the Champions League betting odds on these teams are sure to remain tempting for a long while yet.

However, the overall winners market is not the only way to take advantage of the Champions League betting odds – backing players to be Champions League top scorer also offers some extremely tempting betting opportunities.

It’s hard to look too far beyond Lionel Messi for that particular punt though and – with Messi scoring 12 goals in 13 games during the 2010/11 Champions League campaign – backing the Argentinean to score the most again could lead to a very decent pay out.
