Ballack’s nemesis Boateng set to play for Ghana against Germany

Uncapped Kevin-Prince Boateng could be on a collision course with the Germany national team after being named in Ghana’s final 23-man squad.

A now infamous tackle by Boateng on Michael Ballack in the FA Cup final left Gemany’s talismanic captain injured and provoked the fury of an entire country.

Now the Berlin-born Portsmouth midfielder, who switched nations last June citing a lack of opportunities with Germany, could line-up for the Black Stars against the side he represented throughout youth levels in the final Group D game on June 23rd.

With Boateng’s half-brother Jerome, also of dual nationality, making it into the Germany squad, there is the enticing possibility of siblings taking the field against each other at a World Cup for the first time ever. As things stand Ghana are 10/3 to beat the 2006 third-place team.

Kevin-Prince should win his first cap against Holland in Rotterdam tonight (kick-off 7.30pm) and he’s a 16/1 shot to mark the evening with the opening goal. See the full Holland v Ghana betting market.

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, another Portsmouth player this season, and Sunderland’s John Mensah have also been picked in Coach Milovan Rajevac’s squad, which combines experienced heads from their run to the round of 16 last time round with those youngsters who impressed during Ghana’s charge to the final of January’s Afrcian Cup of Nations.
