Olsen’s erratic Danes should be wary of Senegal’s sting

Denmark will be hoping Senegal do their best Cameroon impression in preparation for a World Cup Group E clash with the Indomitable Lions.

And after a friendly loss to Austria in March, Denmark boss Morten Olsen will be looking for a positive reaction.

It’s no surprise that the hosts, ranked 36th in the world, are 4/6 favourites to beat a side ranked just 75th, however, with a win, a draw and a loss in their last three home games – against the USA, South Korea and Hungary respectively – Denmark’s form in Copenhagen has been erratic to say the least.

More consistent is their scoring, or lack of, only once in their last eight games have they managed more than one goal in a match. Indeed, Senegal have notched just five times in their last seven games so a bet of 0-0 at 11/2 looks attractive, while 1-1 is a decent 5/1.

Senegal are on a run of poor form having won just twice in seven outings, so some may be tempted to back the Danes to beat the away side by a slim 1-0 margin (at 5/1).

But it should be noted that one of Senegal’s wins was an impressive 2-0 win away to Greece in March, so for those anticipating a surprise, the same result is a sizeable 18/1.
