Last weekend’s X Factor brought us little in the way of surprises, as Four of Diamonds – favourites for the chop – became the fifth act to be eliminated from the competition. Elsewhere, Matt Terry wowed the judges once again, while Emily Middlemas continued to close the gap between herself and the market leader.
But there was room for one shock – although, in truth, it’s something we’re starting to expect with every passing week – as Honey G’s odds to win the show are now the shortest that they’ve ever been.
In fact, at 7/1, she’s now the clear third-favourite to become the first rapper to take the X Factor crown.
And despite heading into the competition as a 100/1 outsider who we all assumed would simply be the joke act of the series, she’s actually improving week-by-week.
To date, she’s received three standing ovations, a figure which can’t be beaten by any other contestant, including 10/11 favourite Matt.
It’ll be interesting to see how North Weezy’s finest handles Disco Week next time out. But so far, she’s breezed through the previous five themes X Factor’s ‘random’ jukebox has thrown out.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Honey G’s odds are falling as quickly as she raps, and she’s on course to cause the biggest ever upset in reality TV betting history by winning X Factor.”
