JLS know what it takes to succeed on the X Factor after finishing second two years ago and they believe that John Adeleye has the necessary ingredients to challenge at the business end of the show this year.
Little was known about John ahead of the start of the live TV shows as only small samples of his performances at his first audition and bootcamp were heard.
However, the care worker suitably impressed mentor Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne at the judge’s house stage with his lively version of the Travie McCoy hit “Billionaire” and he was selected for the live shows.
Although not one of the early favourites, John’s smooth voice and refreshing attitude make him a potential darkhorse to win the X Factor and this can be backed at 40/1.
Song choices are going to be important if he is to stay in, as John does not have the greatest range and can struggle to hit the high notes, which was noticeable in his performance of “One Sweet Day” on the first live show.
His voice was much better suited to “A Song For You” in week two and there will be pressure on his mentor to avoid songs that may prove too big for John to pull off.
If he does really nail a song then there is a strong chance a rise in popularity will follow and he is currently 7/1 to be the last act remaining in the over 28 category.
John’s lack of television time in the early stages of the show also mean that he lacked the opportunity to build up the same fan base as some of the other contestants.
Therefore, he will have to work extra hard to show off his personality, as if he does not then it is more than possible that he could be the next act eliminated from the X Factor at 5/1.
