In true 2016 fashion, there could be another huge shock on the cards in the betting world, so stop what you’re doing and take this in: Honey G is now the second-favourite in the market to WIN X Factor.
That means she could be set to cause the biggest upset we’ve seen since, well, last week. But we won’t mention that…
The controversial rapper made it through yet another week of live shows, meaning that only five other contestants are standing between her and a £1m record deal.
But of those five other remaining acts, only Matt Terry (10/11) is ahead of her in the betting. And while the 23-year-old may have been odds-on for a month, it has to be noted that his odds are beginning to drift.
Whether she wins the competition or not, we’re not expecting Honey G to be leaving any time soon, as the 35-year-old has yet to find herself in the bottom two, while no act has received more standing ovations from the judges than her.
Elsewhere, it wasn’t the best of weekends for 18-year-old Emily Middlemas, who struggled to maintain the level of performances that saw her odds fall to just 9/4 last week. Punters can now back her at 6/1, while 5 After Midnight (4/1) are beginning to establish themselves as genuine contenders.
Saara Alto is now 12/1 to go all the way, while Ryan Lawrie is considered to have no chance of winning at 100/1. Although, that being said, we said that about Honey G just a few weeks ago.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Punters can’t get enough of Honey G and they are backing her in their droves to take home this year’s bragging rights.”
