There’s been plenty of fall-out following week two’s live performances with X Factor hopefuls Kingsland Road already confirmed as one of the unlucky acts who’ll face the sing-off.
The announcement that the boy band lost out in the flash vote has made them the 7/4 favourites with Ladbrokes to suffer the ignominy of the second elimination.
Their rendition of Bruno Mars’ Marry You impressed the judges but their efforts ultimately couldn’t save them from the dreaded bottom two.
And on a night where the chosen theme was ‘love and heartache’ it will be the latter that the east London outfit are feeling if they can’t save themselves from an early exit.
Plymouth van driver Shelley Smith has already experienced the pressure of having to fight to remain in the competition.
She survived the axe in the opening round of live shows, however her lively yet dated version of Beyonce’s Single Ladies may not be enough to grant another stay of execution.
At 15/8 to be the next act sent home there’s value to be had for fans looking to see her leave the stage for the final time.
But for those more interested in the long-term outcome of this edition the 10/11 on offer for a member of the Girls category to triumph seems silly to pass up.
Winning act favourite Tamera Foster and fellow Team Nicole protégé Hannah Barrett both impressed.
The former overcame a difficult week off-stage to earn glittering praise from the judges.
Her take on Labrinth’s Beneath Your Beautiful prompted Gary Barlow to say: “For the first time tonight the public are gonna (sic) see what we’ve all seen as judges, and that’s a superstar.”
If she can continue to court more positive publicity then there’s no doubt the talented 16-year-old will remain this year’s standout performer.
