The X Factor wouldn’t be complete without some sort of fix allegations and the only surprise this year is that it’s taken so long.

The show hasn’t been short of controversy with Frankie Cocozza being booted off the show for allegedly taking drugs while Misha B saw her hopes of victory disappear amid a flurry of bullying allegations.

This time though it’s Amelia Lily who is at the centre of things after her winner’s single was available to pre-order from HMV for a brief period of time.

The error sent the conspiracy theorists into overdrive and led to the HMV website crashing under the weight of traffic.

Speaking to the Metro, HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo said: “It was just an error – all three winner’s singles will go up for pre-order, but we will only process the orders for the winner.

“All three are uploaded to the site, but whoever was loading them only did one so far and hadn’t done the other two and not realised what a frenzy it would cause. There’s no conspiracy or no insider knowledge.”

Unfortunately for Amelia, the controversy could do her more harm than good as she tries to win over a public who have yet to really take her to their collective heart.

She is currently the 9/4 second favourite to win the show, while Marcus Collins has drifted to 5/2 and is the outsider for the competition.

Little Mix remain the big 11/10 favourites to win and it’s currently hard to look beyond the girl group.

Even though we’re in the last week it is still worth looking at the elimination market and backing Amelia to exit the show next at 6/4 could be well worth a punt – especially considering the less than positive publicity associated with her name these past few days.
