Next Doctor Who: Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton is the new favourite to become the new Doctor Who, according to the latest odds.

The Beach actress has been the subject of huge gamble in the last 48 hours. And as a result of the flood of money, her odds on replacing Peter Capaldi in the Tardis have collapsed and she’s now the 7/2 leading fancy.

Shop customers in Scotland have been particularly keen on Swinton taking on the role, having initially entered the market at 10/1.

Other runners and riders include previous favourites Kris Marshall (4/1) and Olivia Coleman (5/1) while Maxine Peake (8/1) and Ben Whishaw (10/1) are also still very much in the running.

Amongst the outsiders it’s Michelle Gomez who is proving a popular bet at 33/1 with our odds-compilers now rating it just a 5/4 shot the next Doctor is played by a female actress.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Whovian punters are becoming increasingly convinced the next Doctor will be female, and fingers are currently pointing towards Swinton.”
