Strictly week 10: Bye bye Peter, welcome back Helen

Well hello there Helen George, where have you been hiding? The Call the Midwife star’s return to form was just one of the talking points in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom over the weekend.

Having waltzed and quick-stepped her way to the top of the leaderboard with dance partner Aljaẑ Skorjanec, Helen revitalised her assault on this year’s Glitterball trophy.

Alas, for every Strictly winner there has to be a loser and it was Peter Andre’s turn to dance off into the night for one final time.

Here’s our weekly round-up of the action:

Peter finally fizzles out

Bottom of the week 10 leaderboard and sent home on Sunday night, Peter Andre and dance partner Janette Manrara saw their Strictly dream ended.

Their elimination came following a slow decline over the course of series 13.

The former pop star had been the early favourite and found himself as short as 7/4 for outright victory at the beginning of October.

Even on Saturday morning you could’ve got a tempting 3/1 about the chiselled Aussie becoming the ninth contestant to be sent home.

But a star that once shone brightly has finally fizzled out, leaving us with arguably the six best dancers remaining.

Helen hotfoots back into contention

Another contestant who found herself stealing the show in the early stages, Helen was in danger of going off the boil.

But unlike Peter she pulled something out of the bag and has subsequently seen last week’s odds of 33/1 cut to 16/1 as we hurtle towards December.

Helen’s Viennese Waltz in particular earned rave reviews from the judges and her first 10s of the series.

She may not have enough to stop Jay McGuiness but at the current prices there’s value to be had.
