Aston Merrygold remains the favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing after two weeks of competition.

The former JLS star’s stunning salsa was a hit with bookies and punters alike, but the 5/2 favourite is coming under increasing pressure at the top of the market.

Alexandra Burke has been closing in the past few weeks and now sits as the 3/1 second favourite.

She’s followed by Debbie McGee, whose odds have plummeted since the competition began.

Having started out as a huge 20/1 outsider, the 58-year-old has danced her way down to 7/2 to claim the Glitterball Trophy.

That smacker she planted on partner Giovanni Pernice certainly didn’t do her odds any harm either.

Gemma Atkinson and Mollie King are up next at 10/1 apiece.

Saturdays singer King has failed to dazzle on the dancefloor and her weekend tango has left the 30-year-old at double digit odds.

Davood Ghadami lives to fight another day despite performing an illegal lift during Saturday night’s show.

He joins fellow male movers Jonnie Peacock and Joe McFadden as 12/1 shots.

We then have a bigger jump than Ann Widdecombe’s flight across the dancefloor in 2010.

The chances for the remaining sextet aren’t great.

According to our odds, there’s more chance of the next Royal Baby being called Leopold than this lot winning.

But who knows? We’ve seen shocks before.

Brian Conley, Charlotte Hawkins, Richard Coles, Ruth Langsford, Simon Rimmer and Susan Calman are all 100/1 shots.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Aston might have stunned with his salsa, but Debbie’s ‘a-ma-zing’ waltz and Alexandra’s paso aren’t going to let him storm ahead as the clear favourite for glitterball glory. It’s already a three-horse race after just two weeks”
