While butter-wouldn’t melt Jane Beale and nasty Nick Cotton continue to head the Who Killed Lucy Beale market developments on the square this week have seen Lauren Branning emerge as a strong contender.
The recovering alcoholic recently rekindled her relationship with Lucy’s brother Peter but while she was loved up on the sofa her laptop was being passed to police.
While the computer was obtained through illegitimate means the e-mails contained within could give detectives the break-through lead they’ve been crying out for.
The latest twist in the gripping Eastenders plot has seen a number of big money wagers placed on the daughter of early favourite and current 40/1 shot Max Branning and as such the odds on Lauren being revealed as the killer have tumbled from 20/1 to just 6/1.
Jane is still the bookies’ favourite at 9/2, while Nick – who let’s face it was born a wrongun – can be backed at 5/1.
“If the momentum continues it won’t be long before Lauren’s the favourite,” she said.
“Punters have thrown their cash at her odds and it’s seen her shoot towards the top of the betting.”
