I’m A Celebrity viewers were treated to one of the biggest shocks in reality/celebrity TV last night when Jimmy Bullard – early runaway favourite to win the show – was sent packing.
Bullard’s dismissal came after the Galah/Wombat divide saw the former footballer put up for eviction alongside Carl Fogarty, Melanie Sykes and Tinchy Stryder.
The show’s producers are probably kicking themselves for creating such a scenario and whether Jimmy’s exit came about because of a misplaced perception of his safety or a backlash from his “banter” with Jake will go down as one of TV great mysteries.
The camp, and indeed the show, will be a far duller place without Bullard on hand to brighten up the dull moments and no-one was more aware of this than a tearful Foggy.
However, the show must go on and so must the betting opportunities and Vicky Michele is among the favourites to be next to follow Jimmy out the door – or across the firework-laden, red-carpeted rope bridge to be precise.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “It’s hard to see who’s going to vote to save Vicki or Kendra, and as far as the money’s concerned, one of them will be the next celebrity to be evicted.
“Barely a penny has been wagered on any of the others to be axed.”
With Jimmy out of the picture it looks to be plain sailing for X Factor flop Jake Quickenden to win the show outright, with the Scunthorpe lad now the 5/4 favourite.
