Another Essex resident looks set to take Australia by storm after Ladbrokes were forced to cut Joey Essex’s odds on winning the upcoming edition of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
ITV bosses have made no secret of the fact they are trying to get the TOWIE star into the jungle and it appears he has the support of the public considering the 2/1 quote he has been given to win the hit show.
The 23-year-old reality star is not the first TOWIE lad to enter the Australian bush after Mark Wright came second in the 2011 series but early support for Essex suggests he can go one better and become King of the Jungle.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Joey’s already proving an incredibly popular bet and punters clearly think he’ll be able to go one better than Mark Wright.”
His closest rival in the market is snooker legend Steve Davis who is 6/1 with Ladbrokes.
The six-time world champion has touched down in Australia and is looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow cockney Eric Bristow, who came fourth last year, and be a hit with the public.
Westlife’s Kian Egan and Strictly Come Dancing’s Vincent Simone are also reported entrants into the show and with both boasting an established fan base expect the pair, who are both 8/1 to win, to be in with a chance.
For the girls, double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington is reportedly stepping out of the pool and into the jungle to tackle the infamous Bush Tucker Trials.
The swimmer, who won two Gold medals at the Beijing games in 2008, is 9/1 for jungle glory and backers will hope her competitive nature kicks in when the action gets underway this Sunday.
Elsewhere, Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter (10/1), Alfonso Ribeiro (14/1) – ‘Carlton’ in US sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air – and broadcaster Matthew Wright (16/1) are also reported to be on the plane to Australia.
