We’re into the third round stage of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and the match-ups are starting to provide plenty of value for punters in the betting.
Caroline Wozniacki is out to regain her world number one status after losing it to Kim Clijsters last week, and seeing as she’s 1/10 to beat Ayumi Morira, it’s safe to say she should be one step closer after today’s result.
Victoria Azarenka vs Flavia Pennetta
Both players were taken three sets in their second round matches and it could come down to who has recovered faster in what is sure to be a tight match between Azarenka and Pennetta.
Azarenka is the 4/6 favourite to win and holds a 1-0 head-to-head record over the Italian thanks to a 2-0 win on clay in Stuttgart in April, but Pennetta will prove a tougher opponent on the hard courts.
The Belorussian has enough class and form to progress, but it will be a difficult slog and while Azarenka is 11/4 to win 2-1, punters should be tempted by the 5/1 for Azarenka to lose the first set and win the match.
Caroline Wozniacki vs Ayumi Morita
Pen Wozniacki in for a fourth round appearance but don’t take the 1/10 for the Dane to win, take the 3/10 for Wozniacki to ease through in straight sets.
The world number two has beaten Morita comfortably on the only two occasions they have met, and Morita, the world number 57, should prove little resistance to the Dane.
Jelena Jankovic vs Kaia Kanepi
Kanepi enjoys her battles with world number eight Jankovic, and despite being ranked eight places lower than the Serb, Kanepi is the 4/6 favourite to progress.
Having won three of the four matches between the two, Kanepi looks a great bet to progress and punters should back the Estonian at 7/4 to register her fourth straight sets win over Jankovic.
A £25 double on Wozniacki and Kanepi winning in straight sets would return £89.25. New customers can sign up here for a free bet worth £25.
