Matches are getting harder to predict as the third round of Wimbledon draws to a close, but Philipp Kohlscreiber will be positive of his chances of progression to lead a mini 8/1 accumulator on the first weekend of action this year at SW19.

Kohlscreiber is no mug on grass as he showed when winning the Wimbledon tune-up event in Halle last year, while he reached the semi finals of the same tournament just a few weeks ago.

He has never been beyond the third round at Wimbledon before and maybe would have expected to exit at the same stage this time, with Rafael Nadal looking a more than probable opponent at this stage.

Nadal’s shock exit has been well reported and big things will now be expected of his conqueror Lukas Rosol.

However, the atmosphere on court is going to be considerably different and the rise in expectation may negatively impact Rosol’s performance as he tries to repeat his past performance.

It would actually be no surprise to see Kohlscreiber win in straight sets at 15/8.

Our other pick in the men’s draw is David Goffin, who is rapidly improving and should have too much for Mardy Fish.

Five sets with Britain’s James Ward is certainly not what the doctor ordered for Fish as he continues his comeback from a heart issue and Goffin’s superior play to the Brit can send him through in four sets at 11/4.

In the women’s section, only one place separates Tamira Paszek and Yanina Wickmayer in the WTA rankings, but the Austrian has looked by far the better this week and can use that to her advantage.

Paszek followed up on beating Caroline Wozniacki by only dropping three games against Alize Cornet, while Wickmayer was effectively in overtime to beat the lower-ranked Galina Voskoboeva.

Finally, former French Open winner Francesca Schiavone is somehow the underdog to advance past Klara Zakopalova.

There is little between the duo on grass, but Schiavone’s tenacity and ability to keep getting the ball back is liable to lead to the experienced Czech making too many unforced errors.

Wimbledon Selections

Phillip Kohlscreiber to beat Lukas Rosol @ 2/5
Tamira Paszek to beat Yanina Wickmayer @ 4/9
David Goffin to beat Mardy Fish @ 4/6
Francesca Schiavone to beat Klara Zakopalova @ 5/4
