A first ever meeting with Novak Djokovic on grass is expected by some to offer Roger Federer a big opportunity to improve his disheartening recent record against the world number one, but instead he could suffer another heavy defeat.

Djokovic has triumphed in the last four encounters between the pair and seven of the last eight, with the one exception being their semi-final showdown at the French Open last year.

It is 4/9 that Djokovic adds another success to his collection and moves one step closer to defending his Wimbledon crown.

Meanwhile, Djokovic has won his last three showdowns with Federer in straight sets and 2/1 looks a respectable price that he prevails 3-0 again.

Federer may have dropped only five games in beating Mikhail Youzhny in the quarter finals, but he had clearly still not recovered from the back injury that caused him so much pain against Julien Benneteau earlier in the tournament.

By his own admission, Federer was still a little worried when moving around the baseline against Youzhny and was happy to give up on rallies where he felt that he was underdog to win the point.

He will not get away with the same concessions against Djokovic, who if anything will manipulate him around the court on a more routine basis.

Federer still just holds the edge overall from his 27 previous meetings with Djokovic and arguably has the game to best utilise the conditions at Wimbledon.

The Swiss maestro is 7/4 to beat Djokovic and reach an eighth Wimbledon final.

Djokovic has not been a blistering starter at SW19 this year and therefore the opening set is likely to be settled by a single break.

The best option in this market may be Djokovic to take the opener 6-3 at 9/2 and this price will look even better if he is serving first.
