Marion Bartoli may have only made it beyond the third round once in the last seven Grand Slams, but she can make it past Camila Giorgi to the fourth round at Wimbledon if the Italian reproduces the error-strewn performance of her latest victory.

Giorgi somehow came through two tie-breaks in the second round against Sorana Cirstea, despite serving 11 double faults, getting only 53 per cent of her first serves in and making 36 unforced errors in the two sets.

A repeat of this will leave her in dire straits against Bartoli, who therefore is one of five selections to make our women’s day five accumulator that pays out at 24/1.

Angelique Kerber is the shortest-priced selection against Kaia Kanepi, with the underdog another that is prone to spates of unforced errors.

The fact she needed three tight sets to beat British world-ranked 194 Tara Moore in the first round doesn’t inspire much confidence, while Kerber bested the dangerous Bethanie Mattek-Sands, making only four unforced errors in the process.

Her consistency should see her through and she has reached the third round in each of the last seven Grand Slams.

Eugenie Bouchard is one of the bigger future talents in the sport and has already dealt comfortably with Ana Ivanovic in the second round.

Her game is much more suited to grass than that of Spaniard Carla Suarez-Navarro and Bouchard’s superior power can see her through.

Two outsiders make up the accumulator, with Karin Knapp taken to get the better of Maria Sharapova’s conqueror Michelle Larcher De Prito.

Finally, Vesna Dolonc can follow up on beating fellow Serb Jelena Jankovic by also seeing off Kirsten Flipkens.

Dolonc leads the head-to-head series 2-0 and has shown in the past an ability to cope well with players who like to vary the pace of the ball. Flipkens has also had an exceedingly busy schedule lately.

Wimbledon women’s day five selections
Angelique Kerber to beat Kaia Kanepi @ 3/10
Marion Bartoli to beat Camila Giorgi @ 4/7
Eugenie Bouchard to beat Carla Suarez Navarro @ 10/11
Karin Knapp to beat Michelle Larcher De Prito @ 5/4
Vesna Dolonc to beat Kirsten Flipkens @ 7/4
