1. Eugenie Bouchard – 7/1

In terms of Grand Slams, the Canadian is in the form of her career, even if it’s only two year’s old.

She followed up runs to the last four at both the Australian and French Open by going one better at Wimbledon and her sharp defeat to Petra Kvitova will only spur her on to pick up a first win.

2. Simona Halep – 8/1

Just like Bouchard, the Romanian number one is enjoying a breakout year in Grand Slams.

However, her defeat to the Canadian pinup in the Wimbledon semi-finals puts here behind her new-wave rival in our charts.

3. Petra Kvitova – 12/1

A second Wimbledon title should be enough to have the 24-year-old Czech on top of the tree, at least it would if the next Grand Slam was anything other than the US Open.

Kvitova hasn’t ever made it beyond the fourth round in New York and has only won 10 of her 16 matches at the tournament.

4. Victoria Azarenka – 6/1

As second favourite for the tournament and beaten finalist in the last two years, Azarenka would normally be higher up this chart.

An injury to her foot caused her to miss three months of the season, though, and she returned to play just one tournament before falling in the second round of Wimbledon.

5. Serena Williams – 5/2

The viral illness that saw Serena abandon a Wimbledon doubles match with her sister just three games in, having failed to get the ball over the net to that point, still lingers.

Williams has pulled out of the Swedish Open, claiming to still not feel 100 percent and it’s unclear when she’ll be back.

Her form wasn’t the greatest prior to the illness anyway, having crashed out of her last two tournaments (both Slams) before the fourth round.

6. Maria Sharapova – 6/1

The Russian’s record in New York is far from flattering, having made just one semi-final appearance in the last seven years.

After the French Open, where she tends to dominate, Sharapova generally struggles in the latter half of Slam season and her irregular appearances on the WTA Tour leave her vulnerable.

7. Li Na – 14/1

Na hasn’t won a tournament of any kind since taking the Australian Open at the start of the year.

She’s also only made it beyond the quarter finals at the US Open once in her career and has a raft of young pretenders to fend off.
