We’re heading towards the business end of this year’s US Open at Flushing Meadows as the game’s big hitters finish off the round of 16 and head for the quarter-finals.
There aren’t many bigger than 6ft 10in American John Isner but does he have the right tools to down five-time champion, Roger Federer?
We’ve compiled another tasty treble to get stuck into as the action hots up.
Federer has only lost once in five meetings with Isner and while the American is undoubtedly a threat on this surface, we can see the Swiss legend making light work of his opponent.
Phillip Kohlschreiber represented a step up for Federer in the third round but he still managed to dispatch the German without dropping a set, just as he had done with his two previous challengers.
Isner has been in similarly good form so far but has faced weaker assignments and is more likely to fall to a fourth straight sets loss against Fed and miss out on a place in the last eight.
Last year’s champion is rated as the underdog in this contest and that’s despite his superior head-to-head record against Tsonga.
Granted, the Frenchman has been impressive so far, winning all of his matches here in straight sets while Cilic has toiled somewhat and suffered an injury scare against Jeremy Chardy in the last round.
But the latter still represents greater value and can dig deep to notch a fourth consecutive competitive victory over his opponent.
Matches between the Williams sisters are always highly-anticipated, even if they lack the same competitive edge these days.
But in front of a packed home crowd we’re banking on a much tighter affair than recent meetings.
Serena looked vulnerable in the first week, dropping a set to Bethanie Mattek in the third round and being pushed hard by Kiki Bertens before that.
Normal service was resumed against Madison Keys but Venus – who’s dropped two sets so far in the tournament – can make a good fist of this latest clash and help us deliver the goods.
