Daniela Hantuchova and Elena Dementieva will face each other for the 15th time when they step onto Arthur Ashe court later today.

Dementieva is the 1/3 favourite heading into the clash and it’s easy to see why as she leads the head-to-head count 10 to four – Hantuchova’s fourth win was last time out in Feburary, but came courtesy of an early retirement by Dementieva.

On only five of the 14 occasions has the match gone the distance and Dementieva will be hoping she can dispose of Hantuchova in two sets, 10/11 to do so, after proving her form in the Pilot Pen Tennis tournament where she lost to Caroline Wozniacki in the semi-final.

Hantuchova has struggled this year but beat former world number one Dinara Safina in the first round and will step onto court knowing she has the ability to beat Dementieva, she is 9/4 to emerge victorious.

Kim Clijsters also resumes her tournament challenge today when she faces Czech Republic’s Petra Kvitova, and her impressive form thus far has led to her tournament odds shortening to 3/1.

The Czech beat Britain’s Elena Baltacha in the second round but shouldn’t provide any problems for Clijsters, the Belgian is 1/5 to win in straight sets.

Home crowd favourite, Venus Williams, takes to the Arthur Ashe stadium at around 12.00am tonight where she is a strong 1/50 to defeat Mandy Minella.

Minella will enter the third round of the US Open for the first time in her career and is long at 10/1 to defeat Williams, the American should dispose of Minella in two sets and is 1/10 to do so.

Ana Ivanovic is also in action and is 2/9 to defeat Virginie Razzano. See the full US Open tennis betting market here.
