This French Open campaign isn’t going to plan for Andy Murray, with the Scot suffering no end of trouble on his way to a third round clash with Ivo Karlovic.
The Scot hasn’t shone at all so far, while Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have barely broken sweat and there’s no doubt significant improvement is required on day six.
Elsewhere there’s a thrilling clash in store between two of the men’s best, which could prove explosive.
Here’s what to look out for…
There’ll be no third-time lucky for Murray
Murray is in round three by the skin of his teeth, after scraping to five-set victories in his first two rounds over relative outsiders.
Against Ivo Karlovic however, Murray will be punished if he fails to produce the goods.
The pair have met six times before, and though the Scot holds a 6-0 record, each game has been mightily close. The Scot will surely come good sooner or later, but Karlovic will be a test.
Best bet: Murray to win 3-1 @ 12/5
Safarova to end Stosur’s hopes again
In one of the third-round’s best ties on paper, Lucie Safarova and Sam Stosur meet for the 15th time.
Unfortunately for the Aussie, Safarova dominates this contest with 11 wins to three.
The Czech has also won all three clay contests, and could be prove well supported for victory.
Best bet: Safarova to win @ 8/15
Don’t miss Kyrgios versus Gasquet
In what could be the best match of the day, Nick Kyrgios takes on home favourite Richard Gasquet.
Australia’s Krygios has no problem playing the villain, and destroyed Gasquet 6-0 6-4 earlier this year in Marseille.
The more experienced player has won both clay court meetings however, but with both of their previous Slam meetings going to at least four sets and with tie-breaks everywhere, expect another closely-fought encounter full of quality.
Best bet: Exactly 5 sets @ 9/4
