Rafa Nadal admits he is feeling far from his best at the Australian Open – but is determined to keep battling.
Nadal fought out a gruelling two and a half-hour 6-2 7-5 6-3 victory against Bernard Tomic in the last round but is expected to win against Marin Cilic who was brilliant in a run to the semi-finals of the Australian last year.
Nadal may be 1/12 to win the clash, but he is taking nothing for granted – especially with his current poor health.
He said: “It seems like my body is still not perfect. I am sweating more than usual. I am more tired than usual when I’m playing.”
“Hopefully, I’m going to improve. I don’t know what’s going on. I am doing all that I can. I am working. I am resting. I can’t do anything more.
“If I don’t feel perfect, it’s not my fault. It’s day to day. All I can say is that I will keep fighting.”
Nadal has met Cilic on only one previous occasion, with the 22-year-old beating the world No.1 in the China Open in 2009.
Despite that, the Spaniard should come through relatively unscathed. However, Cilic certainly has the game to push Nadal so backing the Spaniard to drop a set and win 3-1 at 5/2 could be well worth a bet.
A £25 stake on Nadal to win 3-2 would return £225. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
